What's a Larkfarm?

To the right, our barn, stable, and corral...the trees you see in the distance are ours too.

No, we're not really raising larks from eggs here (though that might make an interesting niche business). Do you know how hard it is to come up with an unused domain name these days? Anyhow, the derivation is simple:

My personal corporation (hey, I'm a corporation! It's for tax purposes, y'know?) is Lark Group, Inc., so-named because I'm a morning person.
We're living on a farm (90 acres with buildings and a growing amount of livestock).
The farm actually does have larks -- to be precise, mudlarks, who are building nests and raising babies in the eaves of the house and up in the barn. (6/28/99: The eggs have hatched...did you know little baby birds peep for food full time, including all night?)(OK, really they're barn swallows. But we like to call them mudlarks anyhow).

So there.

Below, a section of the USGS topo map of the area. This is one of the newer quads, so elevations are in meters. That's Grove Road running up the right side. Our driveway comes off it at the lower right and makes the little loop at the end. The black square is our house; the open square is our barn.
