by L. Frank Baum
The last of the Oz books that L. Frank Baum wrote himself, this one is more concerned with magic than most of the others. We get a bunch more of the back story of how Ozma became the ruler of all of Oz (which isn’t always consistent with the earlier books) and learn about the difference between wizardry, sorcery, fairy magic, and Yookoohoo magic. There are also some new races, including the Flatheads who keep their brains in cans, and a bunch of suspense when Ozma and Dorothy get trapped in an underwater city. The kids enjoyed trying to figure out how everyone would make their way to a happy ending.
