Attachment Parenting

We had our first baby in August 2000, as you probably know if you made it this far into my website. Fortunately, we're in almost total agreement as to how to raise children. We both believe in treating children respectfully and attending closely to their needs. Well, it turns out there's a name for this style now: attachment parenting, or AP. Of course, like any other social movement, there are major disagreements about what AP includes, especially among those who practice it. Many people, alas, seem to confuse attachment parenting with natural parenting, a set of ideas which I find dubious. Some day I'll write an essay about this.
